Since then boys from the church and the Palatine area have benefited from the program and values of scouting as expressed in the Boy Scout Oath: On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country, and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight. And the Scout Law: A Scout is: TRUSTWORTHY LOYAL HELPFUL FRIENDLY COURTEOUS KIND OBEDIENT CHEERFUL THRIFTY BRAVE CLEAN and REVERENT Opportunities provided by Troop 182 have helped boys learn the meaning of leadership and experience responsibilities expected of leaders. More than thirty five boys from Troop 182 have attained the rank of Eagle Scout. Eagle projects have included enhancing the Palatine Presbyterian Church landscape, collecting and repurposing computers, conservation projects in Palatine, rebuilding a miniature golf course for the senior center and painting at the Palatine Opportunity Center. Troop 182 meets alternating Sundays and Mondays throughout the year, except for the week when the troop attends summer camp. Membership is currently at 12 boys ranging in age from 10 to 17 years. Their common denominator is friendship and enjoyment of camping. Camping is the activity of choice for the scouts of Troop 182. Weekend camping outings are held throughout the year as well as participation in fall, winter, and spring Camp-o-rees. Annually Troop 182 attends summer camp for one or two weeks and at least once during their scouting career, boys are provided with a high adventure opportunity. This year is the National Scout Jamboree. Next year a contingent is going to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico for a 50 mile back pack outing.
