Campaign coinciding with the closing of the PADS season Dear Friends: Please find attached the list of items that our children and youth are collecting to donate to Journeys from PADS to Hope in Palatine. While the PADS sites that offer nightly shelter and meals to the homeless are open from October through April, Journeys continues to offer services to the homeless throughout the year. Over the last few years, our Sunday school program has intentionally included service opportunities designed to nurture a heart for mission and to grow an awareness of how our students might use their own gifts to serve God. During that time, our children and youth have served our PADS guests in a number of capacities and participated in activities to build an understanding of the causes and challenges of homelessness. Having recently considered the numerous challenges our PADS guests face during the summer, our children were moved to action. Our Sunday school youth and children have identified specific items that they can deliver to Journeys to support and ease some of the unique burdens of summer homelessness. The children and youth are discovering ways to raise funds for these items on their own and they are asking for the congregation’s support as well. The children will accept, purchase and deliver items throughout the summer season; however, it is their desire that this campaign coincide with the closing of the PADS season (April 30) to build awareness and express compassion. Please prayerfully consider supporting the efforts of our young people in extending the spirit to our homeless brothers and sisters. Donation boxes are located in the church foyer. Monetary donations will be accepted after worship on Sunday morning, April 29, or can be placed in an envelope marked “Journeys Summer Items” and placed in Michelle Johns’ mailbox at church anytime during the summer season. Thank you for your consideration and prayers for our homeless sisters and brothers. In Christ, The Sunday school students, teachers and service/mission leaders of the Presbyterian Church of Palatine
